Claes Oldenburg, Store Days 1967
I work with people from all backgrounds, ages and abilities to create art to involve, communicate and bring people together.
Inspired by meeting and working with Jim Ives, Martin Goodrich and Barbara Wheeler-Early to create art that communicates and involves, I graduated in Fine Arts (Painting) from Chelsea School of Art in 1976 to work with the Community Arts group Free Form Arts Trust, then to coordinate the arts workshops with the pioneering community arts centre Chats Palace.
Since moving to Bristol 30 years ago I have worked with a wide range of clients and organisations, including the Albany Centre, St Pauls Carnival, Exeter Phoenix, British Council, Actiontrack, Circomedia, Bristol City Council, Desperate Men, Forkbeard Fantasy, Ambition Lawrence Weston, A Forgotten Landscape.
As Visual Arts Director with acta for 15 years I developed my unique approach and reputation with many Primary Schools and community groups around Bristol, particularly in Bedminster, Hartcliffe, Withywood, Southmead and Lawrence Weston.
Presently I am Creative Director of Bedminster Winter Lanterns and West Street Stories
and Associate Artist of Arts Enlarge CIC.
